2. Span & Support
The larger the unsupported area of glass, the thicker it needs to be. A 600mm × 600mm window can get away with 4mm glass. A 2,000mm × 3,000mm storefront panel will need 10mm or 12mm minimum. Four-sided support is stronger than two-sided. Frameless installations require the thickest glass because the edges themselves are structural.
